After the two men got to the cafeteria, ordering what they wanted, they chose a two person table, and sat awkwardly for a few minutes, until the lunch lady came with their meals. Toby had ordered a chai latte and a salad, not feeling very hungry at the moment. Ryan had ordered pizza and coke, with a side of pineapple, feeling as if he could eat the hospital itself.
After they were pretty much done with their meal and only had a little bit of their drink and some crumbs left, Ryan gathered up the balls to take a deep breath, and ask Toby the question that had been bugging him the whole afternoon. "So... Toby... why did you and Pewds... um..."
"Why did we split?" Toby asked without missing a beat, and Ryan nodded shyly. Toby sighed as he continued, "Me and Felix broke up because of many reasons. The distance, The time zones, his infatuation with his characters, and then there was Marzia..."
Ryan, who had heard of Marzia before, was a bit confused. "Okay, well the distance and time I can understand. It's difficult for me and him to talk, too, but what do you mean by his infatuation with his characters? And what about Marzia?"
Toby was conflicted. He really wasn't sure what to say, so he sighed and said "Here, come with me back to my room and we can talk more there." Toby paid for both the meals --after Ryan noticed he didn't have his wallet with him-- and he was thanked graciously by Ryan with a promise to pay him back.
When the two men got to Toby's room, Ryan saw that Toby's friends and family must have been worried sick. Not to mention his fans as well. There were hordes of flowers, elaborately wrapped gifts, and cards sticking out here and there. Ryan's eyes grew wide, he'd never seen this many... this many anything!!
"So", Toby said, in a business-like tone, while patting the place on the bed next to him. Ryan sat down as Toby continued "Let's get over with this conversation. Oh, and anything said in here does not leave this room, got it? No matter what."
Ryan nodded in agreement, as Toby started his story.
